Terms of Service for BeanBench

By using BeanBench (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using BeanBench, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

BeanBench is a coffee logging and discovery app that allows you to:

Log and track your coffee brews
Save coffee beans, roasters, and grinder settings
Use guided brew timers and recipes
Rate coffees and drinks at local coffee shops
Optionally participate in community features (ratings, reviews)
Optionally receive personalized recommendations

3. User Accounts

3.1 Local Use

You can use BeanBench’s core features without creating an account. Your data is stored locally on your device.

3.2 Account Registration

Some features require an account. You agree to:

Provide accurate information
Keep your login credentials secure
Notify us of unauthorized access
Be responsible for all activity under your account

3.3 Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time in the App settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. User Content

4.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you create (brew logs, notes, photos). By submitting public content (reviews, ratings), you grant us a license to display it within the App.

4.2 Content Guidelines

Public content must not:

Be false, misleading, or defamatory
Infringe on others’ intellectual property
Contain spam, advertising, or malicious links
Harass, threaten, or abuse others
Violate any applicable laws

We may remove content that violates these guidelines.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Our Content

The App, including its design, code, recipes, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission.

5.2 Recipe Attribution

Brew recipes in the App are attributed to their creators. These recipes are shared for educational purposes.

6. Third-Party Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services (coffee retailers, equipment sellers). We are not responsible for their content, products, or practices.

7. Purchases & Subscriptions

7.1 In-App Purchases

Some features may require payment. All purchases are processed through Apple’s App Store and are subject to their terms.

7.2 Refunds

Refund requests should be directed to Apple, as they process all payments.

7.3 Affiliate Links

We may earn commissions from purchases made through affiliate links. This does not affect the price you pay.

8. Disclaimers

8.1 “As Is” Service

The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.

8.2 Coffee Results

Brewing outcomes depend on many factors (equipment, beans, technique). We do not guarantee specific results from using our recipes or recommendations.

8.3 User Ratings

Community ratings and reviews reflect user opinions and are not verified by us.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Washington State, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
